As photographers, we often find ourselves in situations where we come across something so beautiful that we wish time could stand still. I experienced this firsthand while out on a walk and stumbled upon a line of train cars with unique graffiti on them. As I started to take pictures, I found myself captivated by the way the setting sun cast reflections on the cars, creating a truly mesmerizing sight. I couldn't help but wish that the moment could last forever.
This experience inspired me to create a series of photos that explored the concept of time and the desire to pause it during those special, beautiful moments. Photography has the unique ability to take us back in time, allowing us to relive and cherish those memories forever.
In those moments of beauty and wonder, we often wish we could rewind time and experience them again. However, with the power of photography, we can capture those moments and revisit them whenever we want. Each photo becomes a time capsule, preserving that moment in time for future generations to appreciate.
As photographers, we have the power to capture these timeless moments and create memories that last a lifetime. Whether it's the setting sun casting a golden glow, a child's first steps, or the natural beauty of the world around us, we can use our cameras to capture these moments and preserve them for years to come.
For this series I wanted to purposefully manipulate the photos too that they flowed from lightest to darkest. When I was exposing them I did expose them for slightly longer each time to increase the darkness to simulate the sky getting darker. I also raised the contrast of the photos to really exemplify the light hitting the train cars.
This s my favourite photo of the series! I love the contrast of thee trash and the beautiful graffiti. Honestly what struck me about the tran cars was how amazing some of the art was. They are almost like wandering art shows in a way.
I purposefully chose to make the prints in reverse and make the graffiti read backwards to symbolize time going in reverse and indicate the desire for the to go backwards or at least pause so I could enjoy the moment more.
I loved the details on the graffiti n the photo and it was very difficult to discern which train cars to incorporate into the series. I think that the seres could definitely be added to over the wth more train cars!
When I finished walking to the end of the train car is when the sun started to reflect on the various different metals and graffiti. Everything about the train car came to life and I was able to see a whole other aspect of beauty just because of the change in light.
This was a very difficult photo to capture. I spent a long time trying to incorporate the sun into the background and get the glare and reflections of the light. I also wanted to mirror the first picture I took in the series and give it a panoramic style of view like the train car was bending through time.
