Experimenting With Printmaking

This was me experimenting with the enlarger. I wanted to see to the second how long it would take to get a maximum black in the photo. After taking this I knew it was between 2-4 seconds of exposure.

When I was going to make prints I realized how exact you have to be with the timing. There is a lot of intention that needs to be placed on every little thing you need to do. When looking at the contact sheets and the few prints I had made I decided that around 3 seconds was the correct exposure for exposing the light sensitive paper. I wanted to find a way to expose the paper for exact increments of time. I took two sheets of cardboard and exposed lines of the paper at 3.1 seconds through 3.9 seconds to try and get an exact time to get the maximum black I wanted.

the thing I really like about this photo is how the ones add a different dimension to it. This picture was taken in my backyard. It almost looks like you are peeking through a fence into someones backyard. I think I will experiment with this effect and maybe create interesting prints with layering things on top of a photo.

I decided to go to exactly 2 seconds to make a print. This is my attempt at the 18% exposure print of the Exposure and Latitude. There were some flaws in the photo so I need to take another print. One of the things was there is a distracting black line at the top of the photo and also the edge of the white sky and snow bleed into the white of the paper.
